Young Campus – St. Pölten UAS Youth University
From 11 to 17 July at Campus St. Pölten
The project week Young Campus offers young people aged 15-20 the possibility to playfully immerse themselves into the world of film, coding or design. Experts from the St. Pölten UAS accompany the young participants and offer insights into their fields of expertise. Registration is possible until 24 June.
The participants of the Young Campus work together in small groups with the support of UAS expert coaches. They can explore interesting topics such as film, coding or design and deepen their existing knowledge in these areas.
“We are overjoyed that we can welcome the participants on site once again. At the new Campus St. Pölten, the young participants will find labs and practice rooms with state-of-the-art equipment and get to use the latest technologies for their projects”, says Gabriele Permoser, head of the service unit Research and Knowledge Transfer.
Numerous Workshop Topics
In 2022, the theme of the Young Campus will be “Weltverbesser*innen?!” (making the world a better place). The theme will be present in all workshops and projects, and participants will have the opportunity to contribute their thoughts and inputs. This year's workshop topics are: Filmmaking, Design, Flight & Media, Making Radio, and Business and Programming. Previous experience in the respective areas is not necessary.
Video Series “Facts & Trivia”
This year, the video format “Young Campus: Facts & Trivia” was launched. One thing the COVID-19 pandemic has taught us is that online media are also a great way for a youth university to reach young people with knowledge content regardless of time and place. In these short videos (less than 5 minutes each, in German), the UAS coaches share knowledge and tips on Young Campus topics.
“The explanatory videos of our experts offer an exciting insight into topics such as programming or podcast production and are available permanently”, says Permoser.
Make Youth Universities Accessible to Everyone
Unfortunately, educational success in Austria is still often a question of background and upbringing. The Young Campus wants to actively counteract this, among other things through close cooperation with youth centres and youth organisations such as the START scholarship programme for young people with migration background.
To avoid costs being a participation obstacle for anyone, the participation fee has been reduced to 29€ (including meals). For those in need of support, free participation is possible.
