Kapsch Assumes Room Sponsorship at St. Pölten UAS
Company Kapsch BusinessCom Sponsors Network Technology Lab at St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences
The St. Pölten UAS recently celebrated the opening of its new Campus St. Pölten featuring a new building with more, bigger and highly modern labs and seminar rooms. Companies are given the opportunity to become sponsors for the rooms in exchange for more visibility as employers and UAS partners.
The company Kapsch BusinessCom is the first to make use of this offer and has just assumed the sponsorship for a network technology lab.
Fending off Attacks on Infrastructures
The Network Labs at the St. Pölten UAS are used by all study programmes of the Department of Computer Science & Security as well as the bachelor degree programme Media Technology. They are equipped with cutting-edge server infrastructure for teaching and many other project- and study-related activities. In the labs, students learn and practise, for example, to detect and fend off attacks on critical infrastructures.
Collaborations between St. Pölten UAS and Kapsch
“We highly appreciate the students of the St. Pölten UAS and the education offered, which is why we are proud to say that we have collaborated with the campus on many levels for several years. Cyber Security has been a rapidly growing area in our digitised world, so it is particularly important for educational institutions and companies to provide young people with a sound local know-how in this field”, says Jochen Borenich, Member of the Executive Board of Kapsch BusinessCom AG.
“For our university of applied sciences, Kapsch BusinessCom has been an important partner for many years. Thanks to the fact that Kapsch has a business location in the BIZ, we also enjoy a number of advantages through physical proximity. The company is a major internship provider and employer for our graduates and a supporter of our annual IT security conference IT-SECX”, explains Johann Haag, Chief Operation Officer of the St. Pölten UAS.
“Our joint initiative Cyber Security Austria in St. Pölten allows for intensive exchange with the students. Thanks to joint projects, practical lectures by colleagues, an internships in our company, we have been able to gain approximately 15 new staff members for the security division from the UAS”, adds Mario Brenner, Head of Business Line System Integration and the KBC Cyber Defense Center of Kapsch BusinessCom AG.
“With the progress of digitalisation, university of applied sciences study programmes in the IT sector are gaining in importance – and so does the close collaboration with the business sector. By cooperating with companies, we ensure a practice-oriented education and lay the foundation for the implementation of innovative projects. I am very pleased that companies such as Kapsch take another step forward by assuming sponsorships for teaching rooms. This further strengthens the collaboration for the benefit of the company and the university, and particularly the students”, says Mayor Matthias Stadler.
Visibility through Room Sponsorship
“With our new room sponsorships, we give companies high visibility on campus as well as the opportunity to establish themselves as attractive employers and promoters of education and research, thereby enhancing their prominence and image. We are happy about this new partnership with Kapsch BusinessCom”, emphasises UAS Executive Director Gernot Kohl.
Companies can volunteer to become sponsors for labs, seminar rooms and students’ study areas. In this way, they become visible for almost 4,000 students, 400 staff members, 1,000 external lecturers, and thousands of visitors of on-campus events.
