IC\M/T research on decentralised data sharing in aquaponics earns top recognition in Las Vegas
The team of the Digital Technologies research group at the Institute of Creative\Media/Technologies, namely Jamilya Nurgazina, Stefan Killian, Florian Taurer, Pamela Nolz, and Thomas Felberbauer (with their team partner Filip Ion-Dorinel from BEIA GmbH), scored an amazing success when their paper received the Best Session Presentation Award at the IEEE 43rd International Conference on Consumer Electronics (ICCE) 2025 in Las Vegas, USA.
Top Recognition for Aquaponics Research
The paper is titled "Decentralized Knowledge Sharing Framework for Aquaponics-Based Food Production: Insights on Data Sharing and User Interfaces" and explores how knowledge and data can be shared in decentralised aquaponics systems. Aquaponics combines fish farming and plant cultivation in a closed-loop system. The goal is to improve the efficiency and sustainability of these systems by optimising user-friendliness and data accessibility. The paper also highlights the challenges and solutions in designing user interfaces for such systems.
The paper presents research findings from the ongoing research project EdeN, led by the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences, that aims to create efficient, decentralised, and sustainable food production systems. It integrates green technologies and smart distribution methods to enhance food security and reduce environmental impact.
The pre-print with the study findings is already available, and the paper will be published in the conference proceedings on IEEE Xplore.
