Outgoing Students
St. Pölten UAS students can spend a semester studying abroad without losing study time. Courses completed abroad are fully accredited at St. Pölten UAS, provided the student fulfills the requirements of the learning agreement.
A study abroad period normally lasts one semester or a minimum of three months. Bachelor's students need to have completed one year of study before going abroad. On many programmes, students are advised to go abroad during certain 'mobility windows’ – semesters that have been identified as particularly suitable for studying abroad.
Advantages of studying abroad
- Studying abroad is a personally enriching experience that can give you an edge on the labour market.
- It gives you a taste of a new academic environment and intercultural experiences, as well as the opportunity to significantly improve your foreign language skills.
- The host university's study programme is a stimulating and rewarding complement to your curriculum at St. Pölten UAS.
Study abroad opportunities
To open up opportunities for our students to study abroad, the university has exchange agreements with more than 150 partner universities in over 30 countries. As a rule, outgoing students on an Erasmus or joint study exchange programme are exempt from paying tuition fees at the host institution. Erasmus additionally pays monthly grants to outgoing students.
In contrast, free movers spend a semester studying at a university that is not one of our partners. As a free mover, you are responsible for managing organisational matters relating to your study semester abroad, and for obtaining funding.
Application
All applications for exchange studies (Erasmus, Joint Study, Free Movers) are to be submitted electronically via the Mobility-Online Tool.
Application deadline:
- for the following winter semester: 1 March (Erasmus, Joint Study)
- for the following summer semester: 1 October (Erasmus, Joint Study)
Grants
Students studying at an Erasmus partner university in Europe can apply to St Pölten UAS's Office for International Office, which places students in partner universities and nominates students for an Erasmus grant. Further information on grants is available on our German-language website and at www.grants.at.
Other prerequisites for outgoing students
Outgoing students must fulfil the academic requirements specified by their particular department, and provide proof of sufficient proficiency in the host university’s language of instruction (minimum level: B1+ according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
Outgoing students remain enrolled at St. Pölten UAS and continue to pay tuition fees to their home university.
Students may choose to study abroad for one semester while doing their bachelor's degree, and/or for one semester while in a master's programme.
Assignment of study places at partner universities is subject to availability.
