How do I become a Social Worker?
Graduates of this degree programme are qualified for activities in all fields of Social Work. You acquire well-founded expert knowledge of Social Work methods and learn how to apply them in practice.
In the course of your studies, you reflect on your own professional development, draw up scientific analyses of current cases, and write your bachelor thesis within the framework of a teaching research project.
What is the difference between the full-time and the part-time study programme?
In the full-time programme, teaching takes place from Monday through Friday, and largely on site.
The part-time programme is organised in several attendance blocks in combination with large self-study shares.
What exactly is Social Work all about?
Social Work refers to the assistance of individuals, groups, and communities in their everyday lives, lifestyles, and social networks. As a Social Worker, your field of activity lies wherever people interact with their environment, and you promote social change through solution-oriented methods.
Thanks to a solid scientific education, you acquire comprehensive knowledge, modern techniques, and effective tools for your professional practice. The application areas of Social Work are manifold: from child and youth work through integration assistance for migrants to addiction counselling and prevention. Which competencies should a future Social Worker have?
Social Workers need pronounced personal competencies including empathy and sensitivity in order to understand other people’s needs and react appropriately. They are able to recognise conflicting interests and are equipped with the necessary decision-making and reflection competencies.
Good oral and written communication capabilities are needed for effectively interacting with clients, colleagues, and other experts. Moreover, high resilience and stress resistance are a must because the work can be emotionally and psychologically challenging, and self-care thus plays an essential role.
