Learn how smart digital technologies can be used effectively to improve processes in various industrial sectors and developed further as needed. The two specialisations
- Smart Manufacturing (human-machine interaction / assistance systems) and
- Smart Automation (networked production / industrial security)
allow you to choose a focus.
Applications
Asset Tracking
Companies are also busy trying to "find things", e.g. in containers, stock goods, materials, products and more. Smart engineers develop technical solutions to localise things via smartphone applications, drones or so-called “beacons”.
Internet of Things
Voice-activated assistants are found not only on computers and smartphones, one also meets these clever companions more and more often in living spaces. Smart engineers use these technologies to monitor production processes or control machines, from smart home to smart factory.
Augmented Reality
To show virtual objects in the real world, that's the idea behind it. In industry, smart engineers use augmented reality to, e.g. be able to "look inside" virtual machines or virtually train employees on systems.
Choice of two specialisations
Smart Manufacturing
You receive training in manufacturing and intelligent machinery with a view to optimising production. The curriculum covers topics such as the industrial application of efficient and user-friendly human-machine interaction and shop-floor IT, using mobile hardware and the latest 3D and virtual reality technologies. There is also a strong emphasis on small and medium-sized enterprises as suppliers and users of smart production methods.
Smart Automation
The concept of networking in industrial manufacturing takes centre stage in this specialisation. You learn about internal and external production processes, as well as the implementation of distributed and networked production plants, systems and processes, which are examined from the perspectives of industrial security and automated production.
