Junior Researcher Computer Vision for the Analysis of Visual Art (w/m/d) (30-40h)
Your tasks
- You write your dissertation in the field of Computer Vision with a focus on the analysis of art history image and video collections
- You conduct research in applied and basic research projects on Computer Vision, Machine Learning (ML) / Deep Learning in interdisciplinary problems of film studies and art history
- Together with the team, you develop methods for the automatic analysis and classification of images and videos as well as interactive visual interfaces for the ML-assisted search and analysis of large multimedia databases
- You write scientific publications, hold presentations, and provide support in the preparation of research proposals
- To a minor extent, you are involved in teaching (max. 6 semester periods a week) and in supervising scientific final theses and teaching projects
Your offer to us
- Successfully completed master degree programme in Informatics (or a comparable field, e.g., Digital Humanities) that qualifies you for a PhD/doctoral programme
- Comprehensive basic knowledge and practical experiences in automatic image analysis, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Content-Based Visual Retrieval
- Sound programming skills (Python, OpenCV, Deep Learning libraries such as Tensorflow/PyTorch)
- First working experiences in research projects are an advantage
- First relevant professional and/or practical experiences are an advantage
- Interest in questions pertaining to Digital Humanities
- Excellent English language skills / willingness to learn German (for applicants whose native language is not German)
- Curiosity, team spirit, independent work style, and willingness to assume responsibility
