Change of Leadership in the Fields of Media
New Academic Directors and Head of Department
Franz Fidler, who has held several leadership positions at the St. Pölten UAS since 2013, has been appointed as Head of the Department of Media and Digital Technologies. The study programmes Creative Computing and Media Management will also see a change in leadership.
Comprehensive Expertise
Franz Fidler, previously Deputy Head of the Department of Media and Digital Technologies, will head the department as of 8 July. Fidler takes over from Alois Frotschnig, who has been appointed as Head of the UAS Board. “Franz Fidler is an experienced leader, who has greatly contributed to the St. Pölten UAS’ development in the field of digital media technologies over recent years“, says Gernot Kohl, Executive Director of the St. Pölten UAS.
Fidler has been heading several study and further education programmes at the department since 2013. Prior to that, he was a technical director at “Global Bright Media GmbH“ and “C SEED Entertainment Systems GmbH“, a post-doc researcher at Columbia University New York and “Bell Laboratories” (US), and a university assistant in research and teaching at the Institute of Telecommunications at TU Wien. He earned his PhD with the highest honours for academic achievements in Austria (sub auspiciis) at TU Wien within the framework of a project for the European Space Agency (ESA).
New Academic Directors
The study programmes Media Management and Creative Computing will also see a change in leadership. Markus Seidl will head the newly launched bachelor Creative Computing. Johanna Grüblbauer takes over from former Academic Director Edward Volk, who has been working at the Department of Media and Economics at the St. Pölten UAS since 2011. He will continue to teach at the St. Pölten UAS and remains in the position of Works Council Chairman and Head of the Campus & City Radio 94.4.
Media Management (BA): Johanna Grüblbauer
Johanna Grüblbauer has been heading the bachelor degree programme Media Management since 1 July. Grüblbauer has been working at the St. Pölten UAS since 2007, most recently she was Deputy Head of the Research Institute of Media Economics. Prior to that, she worked as a researcher and editor and in marketing with various media organisations and agencies.
Creative Computing (BA): Markus Seidl
Markus Seidl has been heading the bachelor degree programme Creative Computing since 1 July. Seidl has been working in teaching and research at the St. Pölten UAS since 2001.He has been Head of the Media Computing Research Group and Managing Director of the Institute of Creative\Media/Technologies since 2015.
