New Head of Department and Academic Directors at St. Pölten UAS

Following the retirement of Otfried Knoll, longtime Head of Department and Academic Director, the St. Pölten UAS’ Department of Rail Technology and Mobility is now in new hands:

New Management for Department and Degree Programmes

Frank Michelberger takes over the double role of Head of Department and Academic Director of the bachelor degree programme Rail Technology and Mobility. He has been a senior lecturer at the St. Pölten UAS since 2010 and Head of the Carl Ritter von Ghega Institute for Integrated Mobility Research since 2013.

Ulrich Puz​ is the new Academic Director of the master degree programme Rail Technology and Management of Railway Systems. Most recently, he used to be a senior lecturer in the bachelor and master degree programmes of the department, and he has many years of experience in management in the public and private sectors.

Study Programmes in Rail Technology as Unique Feature

The railway plays a central role for the mobility of the future: The climate change and the mobility transition are creating a strong demand for rail specialists and managers. In the two study programmes of the Department of Rail Technology and Mobility, the St. Pölten UAS trains the mobility experts of the future.

“The study programmes and continuing education programmes of this department are a truly unique selling point of the St. Pölten UAS. I am looking forward to continuing and helping to actively shape the department’s successful path in future”, says the new Head of Department Frank Michelberger.

“The management of the master degree programme Rail Technology and Management of Railway Systems is an exciting new assignment for me. In future, I intend to further develop our strategic partnerships and to expand the ties between theory and practice in order to continue to ensure the success of the programme”, explains Ulrich Puz, the new Academic Director of Rail Technology and Management of Railway Systems.
