Research Quality Action Plan

The St. Pölten UAS Publishes CoARA Action Plan

In October 2022, the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences joined the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA) and signed their Agreement on Reforming Research Assessment (ARRA) to actively support and promote initiatives for strengthening the plurality of research activities with a special focus on applied research, innovation, and impact,

CoARA strives to assess and promote various results, practices, and activities that maximise the quality and impact of research when it comes to the evaluation of research, researchers, and research institutions.

Action Plan for Progress in Research

Within the framework of this agreement, each institution obliges to introduce a process for the development and assessment of methods, instruments, and criteria for research evaluation of their own fields of activity and responsibility.

The process is based on an action plan of measures, which is created by each institution. The institutions agree to making the plan available to the entire CoARA community, which comprises over 600 members worldwide, and updating it on a regular basis to document their institutional progresses in fulfilling the agreement.

The St. Pölten UAS‘ Action Plan focusses on the following fields:

  • Evaluation and further development of research units (institutes and centres)
  • Evaluation and further development of institutional research activities as a whole (across all research units)
  • Initiatives at national and international levels to achieve systematic change in the European Higher Education Area and the European Research Area.

“The UAS‘ Executive Board expressly supports the St. Pölten UAS’ membership in CoARA. These important activities are in line with our institutional commitment to many European initiatives and the profile and strategy of the St. Pölten UAS,” says UAS Executive Director Hannes Raffaseder.

The Service and Competence Center for Research and Cooperation and the Service and Competence Centre for Higher Education Development and Quality Management of the St. Pölten UAS have been involved from the very beginning and represent the St. Pölten UAS in the CoARA activities.
