St. Pölten UAS Gives Away Gender & Diversity Awards
Prizes for three final theses relating to gender and diversity
On 30 November 2023, the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences gave away the Gender & Diversity Awards within the framework of the International Week.
Pitching Diversity
The ten finalists got ready for their pitches. In two to a maximum of three minutes, the recent graduates presented the most important elements of their final theses.
Although the topics were very diverse, they had one thing in common: a reference to Gender & Diversity.
International Theses with a Reference to Gender and Diversity
Our Gender & Diversity Management awards prizes for a bachelor thesis and a master thesis with reference to the topics of gender & diversity. This year, an additional prize for theses by students and graduates of higher education institutions belonging to the E³UDRES² alliance was offered for the first time.
Each prize is endowed with 500 euros.
The purpose of the Gender & Diversity Awards is to honour outstanding performances by students and showcase their added value created on behalf of this topic area. The awards show how these topics and perspectives enrich our research.
Diverse Spectrum of Submissions
The call for contributions once more resulted in a good response with a total of 17 submissions from 13 different study programmes of the St. Pölten UAS and from partner institutions within the E³UDRES² network.
An expert jury prepared a shortlist selected from the wide range of submissions. An overview of the submissions can be found on the Gender & Diversity Awards website under "Gender & Diversity Award 2023".
Keynote: “What Difference Does Difference Make?”
The inspiring pitches were complemented by a keynote held by Prof. Nikita Dhawan (TU Dresden) titled “What difference does difference make? Gender & Diversity“.
In her presentation, Nikita Dhawan pointed out the importance of integrating various diversity categories and intersectional approaches into research and activism.

Congratulations to the winners!
“All our winners presented very illustrative pitches and convinced us with innovative and highly applicable works”, said Aurelia Mohl in explanation of the jury’s decision.
