Bringing Careers on Track

Company Fair of the Railway Industry at the St. Pölten UAS

With its renowned Company Fair of the Railway Industry, the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences brings together young talents and leading railway companies every year. In 2025, 160 students established valuable contacts and gained insights into their professional future, while 46 companies seized this opportunity to recruit the skilled experts of tomorrow.

In the railway industry, Austria is a pioneer in many respects: Nowhere else in the EU, the people use the railway as much, and no other country in the world exports as many railway goods. As a consequence, specialised professionals are more sought after than ever. This was also reflected in this year’s renowned Company Fair of the Railway Industry at the St. Pölten UAS where 46 companies seized the opportunity for active networking with students and showing them attractive career prospects. Specialist lectures by Rhomberg Sersa Rail GmbH on innovations in track construction and by Weichenwerk Wörth GmbH, which provided insights into special switch logistics as well as surveying and routing services, offered a deeper involvement in the topic.

“The railway sector is currently experiencing a remarkable comeback. Never before did so many companies participate in our career fair. All of them are looking for well-trained specialists for their projects, and here is where they find them: among our students and graduates. We are particularly pleased that our new dual bachelor degree programme in Rail Vehicle Technology, which we launch in the autumn of 2025, will allow us to forge even closer ties with the companies”, says Frank Michelberger, Head of the Department of Rail Technology and Mobility.

Practice-Oriented Education for the Mobility of Tomorrow

With the study programmes Rail Technology and Mobility (bachelor), Rail Technology and Management of Railway Systems (master), and Rail Vehicle Technology1 (bachelor, starting in the winter semester 2025/26), the St. Pölten UAS is offering a practice-oriented education. By way of different focus areas, the students are prepared for the dynamic development of rail-bound traffic systems and enabled to actively participate in the mobility transition. Interested parties can apply for the study programmes by 1 June 2025.

The Company Fair was organised and carried out by the Department of Rail Technology and Mobility in cooperation with the Career Building and Graduate Network of the St. Pölten UAS.
