Digital Technologies for SMEs
“Zukunftsheuriger” and Consultation Day for Companies

The St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences organised an inspiring event on XR applications in the health and commercial sectors together with the “House of Digitalization” of the business agency ecoplus. Representatives of companies and organisations learnt more about current developments and engaged in exchange on these technologies’ potentials. To this end, the Digital Innovation Hub Ost (DIHOST) offered a consultation day for companies as well.
Interesting contributions by experts highlighted the chances and possibilities afforded by digital tools of mixed, virtual, and augmented reality. Following the presentations, there was time for exchange and networking.
Solving Problems and Increasing Work Safety
Sebastian Egger-Lampl from XR-Console addressed the question of how eXtended reality (XR) can help to improve workplace safety, process compliance, and error minimisation.
“Training and education with eXtended reality technology can contribute to a massive improvement of work safety and process compliance, while minimising errors at the same time. Trainees are asked to interactively detect diverse problems in virtual environments and take adequate action. In this way, they acquire active capacity for action and decision-making competence in complex risk and production scenarios”, explained Egger-Lampl.
Axel Dietrich from vrisch introduced ARVUS, a framework for spatial planning and product presentation. Following the presentations, the guests enjoyed a tour of the XR-DEV-Lab at the St. Pölten UAS. This is where researchers and students of the St. Pölten UAS investigate the fusion of real environment and virtual, digital environments. They design and implement applications with virtual and augmented reality technologies that form the basis for simulations, learning environments, immersive videos, and serious games.
Consultation Day for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs)
Before its event format called “Zukunftsheuriger”, the Digital Innovation Hub Ost (DIHOST) hosted a Consultation Day for SMEs. Company representatives found out how they could use this free offer to shape their digital future. They benefitted from practically relevant insights and individual consultations offers.
Another item on the agenda was a consultation marketplace where experts gave advice regarding specific challenges in companies and pointed out chances, possibilities, and tools in digitalisation.
Workshops were dedicated to current topics such as ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) & sustainability, artificial intelligence (AI), IT security (security), building information modelling (BIM), and much more.
The partners in the DIHOST are ecoplus (coordination), IMC Krems University of Applied Sciences, FOTEC, Austrian Blockchain Center (ABC), and ‘Forschung Burgenland’.
