Insight into the study
How important it is to us to train only the best of the best for the best of the future
Good education - nowadays, unfortunately, this is no longer a matter of course! It is well known that universities of applied sciences pursue the concept of putting as much practical (knowledge) as possible into a sound education.
However, the Department of Computer Science & Security would like to go one step further. We are known for maintaining close contact with business, health and industry. For years, we have had the opportunity, and indeed the obligation, to incorporate the wishes and suggestions of all areas of business, health and industry into our curricula on the basis of individual cooperation agreements.
Partners for the future
Our corporate partners are in active exchange with us. This is the only way we can guarantee that we recognize market requirements in good time and adapt our curricula accordingly.
"This is a win-win situation for all involved!" says Simon Tjoa, Department Head of the Department of Computer Science & Security at the UAS. "Through our contacts, we learn in time what the requirements for future employees in these markets look like, our students are trained in the best possible way and specifically for the challenges of the market, and our partner companies can rely on being able to fall back on perfectly trained employees, which in turn leads to a quasi 100% hiring rate of our graduates." Simon Tjoa continues.
This includes not only regular networking events where wishes, knowledge and ideas are exchanged. There are also several times in the academic year in all our 6 courses of studies a series of interesting guest lectures from economics, health and industry. In addition to building a network between students and companies, we are particularly keen to recruit real greats from all relevant areas of study as teaching staff.
3 pillars for a well-paid future
Our educational foundation consists of three major pillars, so to speak: close contact with business, health care and industry, a broad selection of experts, and in-depth technical expertise in-house.
Thus it comes that you can meet well-known personalities from economy, health and industry in our seminar rooms in a regular basis.
These include, for example, the well-known statistician Erich Neuwirth, who made a name for himself primarily through the exact calculations and forecasts in the Corona era, or Lukas Daniel Klausner, a sub-epiciis exceptional mathematician, who has not only achieved great results in research but also enjoys a high reputation in teaching. Or Julian Schrittwieser, from Google DeepMind, who played a leading role in international milestones in artificial intelligence with AlphaGo, AlphaZero and AlphaTensor, and whom we were able to inspire for the keynote at the last Social Artificial Intelligence Night conference. And these are just a few of the experts from various fields and industries who take our students by the hand into a better future!
