Graduates of Healthcare and Nursing^PLUS have comprehensive nursing competencies and a sound knowledge of emergency management, medical diagnostics, and therapy both in the clinical and preclinical settings.

Yes. If this is your wish, you can enrol in the academic continuing education programme Preclinical Treatment and Care in addition to your study programme as it includes paramedic and emergency medical technician training in accordance with the Austrian Act on Ambulance Service Members (Sanitätergesetz, SanG).

In this way, you deepen your knowledge in the area of Preclinical Treatment and Care and obtain the necessary qualification to work in the emergency sector in addition to healthcare and nursing.

Moreover, you have the option to acquire internationally recognised special certificates:

However, you have this option only if you begin your studies in the winter semester and at our main site in St. Pölten (start of semester: September).

The third space of learning is not a physical location but rather a didactic/pedagogical concept which offers students a protected space for training, strengthening, and deepening newly acquired skills and competencies within the framework of subject-related practical trainings in the St. Pölten UAS’ labs (Health Labs) under the supervision of lecturers and experts. In this way, you are ideally equipped for your vocational internships and for working with patients.

All students acquire the T-shirt saying “Nurse in Progress” at the beginning of their studies. It serves them, for example, as work clothes at the third space of learning – in other words, whenever subject-related practical exercises take place. Our students can also wear these shirts during their vocational internships if their internship provider does not provide scrubs for them.

In this practice-oriented study programme, we set great store by linking theoretical education and professional practical experience. Starting from the 2^nd semester, every semester of this programme includes practical study phases that may pertain to diverse subject areas both at the national and international levels.

The St. Pölten UAS has numerous cooperations with partner institutions in countries such as the USA, Switzerland, Finland, Belgium, and Germany. The vocational internship covers a total of 2,300 hours and constitutes a comprehensive preparation for your future working life.
